Project: CCT 20th Anniversary
Role: Planner, coordinator, emcee, designer, & outreach
The 2016-2017 school year marked the 20th anniversary of my graduate program (Communication, Culture & Technology). I was chosen and hired to be the student in charge of planning, and what an adventure that turned out to be! I worked hand in hand with both of our directors to eventually create and execute five separate events: a maker exhibit, happy hour, speaker showcase panel, lunch, mentor sessions, and a grand finale dinner. This involved days of logistics, alumni outreach, coordination with other departments, marketing, and a lot of attention to detail. Every event was successful, and the whole weekend went so well that the Dean of the Graduate School at Georgetown is thinking of increasing funding for our program.
Project: Day of Caring
Role: Joint Base Charleston Organizer
While stationed at Charleston, I was entrusted with planning and executing our entire base's joint volunteer day. We partnered with our local chapter of United Way to participate in their annual Day of Caring. I ended up organizing ten projects for 263 volunteers. We worked across three counties, building projects, cleaning up schools, helping with home projects for elderly and disabled residents, and much more. I did it by building a great team of project leaders, and working with our base leadership to ensure people could get the time off and support to participate. It was an incredibly meaningful project and one I'm proud of to this day!
